What Fred does
From homework help to skills checks, Fred adapts to how your child learns not the other way around.
Fred helps with question sets, essays, creative writing, and research. He is built never to do the work for your child. He asks questions, gives hints, and guides them to the answer themselves.
Your child can ask Fred to explain any concept, create a revision guide, build a mock exam, or just talk through something they don't understand. Any topic, any time.
Diagnostic quizzes aligned to the UK National Curriculum. Fred pinpoints exactly where your child is strong and where they need support.
See what your child worked on, how much effort they put in, and where they are heading. In plain English, not just raw scores.
Five tutor personalities from energetic Alex to patient Sarah. Children pick who they connect with and can switch any time.
Built-in dyslexia support, adjustable text, and read-aloud features mean Fred works for every learner.
Fred generates past-paper style questions and full mock exams. Children can choose timed or relaxed conditions, complete the paper, and get detailed marking and feedback. Coming soon.
Designed for children. No ads, no data selling, no social features. Just learning with parents in full control.

FAQ
Everything you need to know before joining the pilot.
After you join the waitlist, we will email you an invite code. You use that code to register your family account on the app. The pilot is completely free. In return, we ask for honest feedback to help us improve the product before launch.
No. This is built into how Fred works at a fundamental level. Fred is designed to guide children to answers through questions and hints, not to do their work for them. He will explain concepts, break problems into steps, and celebrate progress, but he will not write their essay or solve their maths for them.
Learn with Fred currently covers Years 5 to 11, spanning KS2, KS3, and KS4 across Maths, English, Science, History, and Geography. We intend to add a full curriculum in due course. If there are subjects your child needs that are not yet covered, let us know at [email protected] and we will prioritise accordingly.
Yes. We do not sell data, show ads, or share information with third parties. Parents have full visibility of their child's activity and can delete their account at any time. We take child privacy seriously and are designed with UK GDPR in mind.
After the pilot we plan to launch a paid subscription. Pilot families will be offered an early adopter rate and will always be notified before any charges begin. Nothing changes without your agreement.
During the pilot you can add up to three children per family account. Each child gets their own login, their own tutor personality, and their own progress tracking. The parent dashboard shows all children in one place.
Feedback from both parents and children is genuinely important to us. Children often have the clearest sense of what works and what doesn't, so we actively encourage them to share their thoughts too. During the pilot, you can email us any time at [email protected]. We are also building an in-app feedback tool so you can raise suggestions or flag issues from exactly the page where you encounter them. Nothing goes ignored.
Tutors do an incredible job supporting children and the human connection they provide is genuinely valuable. It is our firm belief that a tool will never fully replace that. However, we are very conscious that private tutoring is an expensive service that many families simply cannot afford. Learn with Fred is designed to be the next best thing, available any time, endlessly patient, and personalised to your child. If you already have a tutor, Fred works brilliantly alongside them. If you don't, Fred is here.
We believe every child deserves access to great tutoring, regardless of their family's financial situation. The improvements in AI mean there is no good reason for quality education support to be available only to those who can afford it. If cost is a barrier for your family, please get in touch at [email protected]. We will find a way to make it work. This is not a small print promise: it is a founding principle of Learn with Fred.
Fred is a real tabby cat who lives with the founder of Learn with Fred in the UK. He is also the unofficial mascot of the school at the end of the road, which he visits most days. His favourite spot is the couch in the SEND department, where he does a great job of providing a calming influence to children who need it when they visit. He doesn't actually do the tutoring (he's a cat), but he does supervise proceedings from his office chair.
